Database Design & Development Services

Any application, be it World Wide Web based (internet) , an intranet, enterprise client-server, or a single stand-alone PC, requires a database of some kind for it to be fully functional and useful. FutureWare offers design services for database development, covering a range of database technologies and vendors. From a small stand-alone MS Access application to an enterprise wide MS SQL-Server application, we can help!

The Microsoft SQL Server, both 6.5 and 7.0, is a fully relational database with ADO and ODBC capability, and is increasingly the database of choice. While both versions provide OLTP (On-line Transaction Processing, Ex. e-Commerce) support, version 7.0 also offers desktop and laptop capabilities.

MS Access is part of the MS Office suite, and is a relational database for small installations. It has some of the features available in more robust database such as; an ODBC (Object Database Connectivity) interface, integrates with the other MS Office products (e.g., Excel, Word), and can be ported to MS SQL Server once your business has grown.

Oracle is a powerful database system with a lot of nice features. How it compares to MS' SQL 7.0 or SQL2000 is a religious issue that we leave to our clients.

We offer a number of design services and components that can be used with Oracle. However, we have to say that Oracle's native development tools leave much to be desired.
Paradox is a popular file and record based database, typically used for relatively small installations. It doesn't have true relational capabilities, however, many drivers are available that can provide SQL (Structured Query Language) like features. A properly designed Paradox database can generally be ported to a relational SQL environment with relatively little effort.
Maker of the Advantage Database, often used for imbedded systems that do not require the full overhead of most relational databases. Has companion products for clients, servers and web engines, offers ANSI-SQL'92 compliance along with very high throughput rates compared to comparable products.
Their Pervasive.SQL product can also be used for imbedded systems.
