The Tray Icon object uses the Windows Tray (what else?) to provide quick access to an application, without it having to take up space on the Task Bar, and generally not needing a desktop shortcut. (If you're wondering where the Windows Tray is, it's the recessed box at the right of the Task Bar, close to where the time is displayed. Had to say it.)
It has a number of properties, like icon assignment, visible control and popup association, among others, to access selected aspects of an application.
Our KeyRing software application, among others, takes advantage of this useful object.
