Regardles of how hard we try, our integrated Help subsystem for the ePAL product can't cover everything; if it did it'd be so big no one would bother looking at it. We occasionally get questions, and the following are those and the answers. | If you have any questions on our ePAL product, then we'll get you the answers. If your question is of interest to current or potential customers, then we'll add it and the answer to this page. |
ePAL's Status Says There's No Connection And It Doesn't Work If there is a Firewall between the computer that is using the ePAL program and the email server, then in general the Firewall should be started before ePAL makes its first polling connection. Otherwise, the Firewall may block ePAL requests, and ePAL's Icon status will indicate that there is no connection active.
One of the default settings, the [Start ePAL Manually] item in the Administration screen, is set so that ePAL must be started manually by right-clicking the mouse over ePAL's icon in the Tray to open the pop-up menu, and then clicking on the {Start ePAL} menu item.
If a Firewall is not used, then the Administration's [Start ePAL Manually] item can be un-checked, and ePAL will try to connect to the email server when the ePAL program is started.
If the no connection status appears, then right-click ePAL's tray icon, click the {Stop} pop-up menu item, and then click the {Start} pop-up menu item. |

ePAL's Status Says There Are Messages, But When I Double-Click ePAL's Icon It's Status Says There Are No Messages. Did ePAL Delete Them? No; ePAL can only delete emails after being explicitly marked by you for deletion in the (ListView) form. What happened is that you opened your regular email program, which deletes the messages from the server after it reads them. ePAL doesn't "know" about this, and won't until the next polling cycle, or when you click the {Refresh} pop-up menu item. Simplest solution to this is to always open your regular email program from ePAL. |

Anti-Virus Program Considerations We strongly recommend you disengage any anti-virus program that you may be using during the installation and registration of all FutureWare products. There are known problems with anti-virus programs blocking database access and other file-based processing. If you continue to have problems, then we suggest that you disable the virus scans on the FutureWare product's installation folder. Once installed, all FutureWare products can detect when that have been tampered with. |
